David Phillips is the Coach Business Development Manager for Tennis Australia, located in Melbourne. He is a broadly-experienced sport educator with demonstrated capacity in integrating performance standards with academic research in the areas of player and curriculum development, teacher education, and facility management.

David holds a Masters of Arts in Higher Education from OISE at the University of Toronto, is a Tennis Canada High Performance Coach and Coaching Association of Canada Master Learning Facilitator and Evaluator. He has consulted with numerous national and state sport organizations, as well as commercial and community facilities.

David’s career in coaching and coach development spans some 30 years. As a performance coach, David led provincial teams to gold medals in the Canada and Western Canada Games. His players have won numerous national titles and over 40 have achieved full scholarships at US Universities. In 2007 David was awarded the COA High Performance Coaching Excellence Award. He has twice been the Ontario Tennis Association (OTA) Provincial Coach for the Ontario Summer Games (’92, ’94). He was the Ontario and Canada Winter Games Coach for Squash Ontario (’93-’95) and the Canada Games Coach for the Northwest Territories (2005).

David also strongly believes in the necessity for professionals to volunteer in sport. He collaborated with national and international sport organizations to showcase an inaugural professional tennis event in the Prairies (ITF Saskatoon Futures) and received the 2012 Saskatchewan Sports Tourism Award. He was also the OTA’s Vice-President of Player Development from 1994 – 1996 as well as the Instruction Editor in the inaugural year of Ontario Tennis Magazine in 1997.

Simply put, David’s passion is to support those around him and to share knowledge, expertise and insights that facilitate growth and development.
